I have been dedicated to the field of education for over 20 years and I have worked with students in Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth grade in a variety of roles. During my tenure with CPS, I have served as teacher, teacher leader, and most recently as Assistant Principal of Emmett Till Elementary School in the Woodlawn neighborhood. This school year I am honored to be chosen as Resident Principal of Peirce School of International Studies.
In addition, I am a former member of Educators for Excellence (E4E) Chicago where I served as a member of the Teacher Action Team. Our Hashtags to Healing campaign focused on making SEL, trauma, and cultural responsiveness a reality in all of our schools. My advocacy with E4E has focused on getting Illinois to recognize the impacts of trauma on student achievement, ending discipline disparities among other races and students of color, and the importance of taking care of your mental health.
