I am a middle school ELA teacher committed to anit-racist educational policy and practices. I work to forge FHAO resources and practices into my ELA classroom. I believe that adolescents are in a sweet spot of development where they are figuring out themselves, the world around them, and how to actualize their own power to leave their mark on the world. Reading and writing are keys in this development. Texts provide students windows through which to read the world and mirrors to examine themselves. I obtained my Bachelor\\'s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH. Antioch\\'s mantra is \\"Be ashamed to die until you have won a victory for humanity,\\" and teaching gives me the chance to work towards this victory every day inside my classroom. I have a Master\\'s Degree in Reading and am a certified Reading Specialist. Outside of school, I am a mom of four (18, 14, 11, and 7). Besides reading and traveling, I love music, sneakers, and art.
