I did not pick education, education picked me. After graduating, I found myself trying to decide if I would stay in the teaching profession or go into retail. One day, while working as a first-grade teacher, one of my students came in early. He sat down at his desk to eat his breakfast. He asked me to help him with his milk carton. As I took the carton from his hands, I noticed that they were very dry. I asked him if he did not mind, was it okay to put moisturizer on his hands because of the dryness. He said "Sure." When I began to lotion his "little bitty" hands, I felt the energy in my heart change, it was like an anvil had landed there and in that instant, I fell in love with those tiny hands and knew that I would be an educator forever. I love being a teacher and have never looked back. My strength is my ability to connect with children through the concept of what do kids like? Then I provide learning that is relevant and engaging to them. I am never pretentious about teaching and learning and I love what I do.

The increase of technology in the classroom is seen as exciting times for me, and Google has been the best suite of apps ever! I love Google and am happy to talk about how it has made my life easier as an educator. I can talk to you about computer application strategies for little ones, application strategies for ESL students, strategies for diverse learners, the ends and outs of using the CPS library database, and translating apps and voice typing, just to name a few.
