I am entering into my 11th year of teaching/leading in CPS (12 years total as a teacher). I was recently a Kindergarten Teacher. I have transitioned into a new role for Chicago Public Schools (Program Manger, New Teacher Induction and Mentoring Team). I now have the privilege and honor to support the retention of New Teachers and & Early Career Teachers for Chicago Public Schools.

I've graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BA in Early Childhood Education with a Special Education Approval. I have earned my MA in Educational Leadership from Roosevelt University. I have a Type 04 (Early Childhood Education) and Type 75 (K-12 Administration) Certification. Not only is it my mission to provide students with a solid foundation in mastering academic skills and socio-emotional skills; I seek to help recruit and retain new teachers within this profession. I enjoy helping to elevate the teaching profession through research, policy, and mentoring. I am a Teach Plus National Advisory Board Member and I have served as a Teach Plus Illinois Senior Teaching Policy Fellow. I have been provided the opportunity to engage with state legislators and to advocate for change at the state and federal level, in regards to issues impacting the teaching profession in Illinois and nationally. I have been nominated as a 2017-2018 and 2020-2021 Illinois Golden Apple Teacher - Excellence in Teaching & Leadership. I am a member of the 2017-2018 teacher advisory council for Chicago Public Schools. Through the teacher advisory council, I was able to identify issues most important to teachers, work collaboratively with other teachers and with the District to come up with creative, evidence-based solutions. In addition, I have served (or am serving) as an instructional leadership team member, math instructional lead, local school council teacher rep, Rochelle Lee awardee, and as a core teacher representative for the district-wide Kindergarten Report Card for Chicago Public Schools. It is my goal to combine my range of teaching experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher/leader who will make a positive contribution in society.
