Kat is a Diverse Learner Educator with a philosophy rooted in culturally sustaining pedagogy, growth mindset, and restorative justice. They have been teaching in Chicago Public Schools since 2013, and have taught every grade level from Kindergarten to High School Juniors.  They served as Jacob Beidler's MTSS committee lead, the Case Manager, as well as member of the Instructional Leadership Team until January of 2020. In February of 2020 they began teaching High School Inclusion at George Westinghouse College Prep. In addition to teaching, they are also a Framework Specialist in CPS. With the Framework Specialists, they both mentor New Teachers in Chicago Public Schools as well as lead Professional Developments for the Diverse Learners New Teacher Cohort. They completed a Master of Science in Elementary Education at Johns Hopkins University in May of 2017.
